hey guys i'm kind of new to this i was wondering if anyone could help me out about a engine rebuild on a ea81 motor out of a 1982 Brumby to go in my 1989 one. i would like to know a few modifications on what i could do to the engine but don't want to go to over the top i still want to keep it original. how hard is it to pull it down and how much roughly would it cost. please throw any ideas at me if you have any will appreciate it thanks

Check out my thread. Click on "Bianca" in my signature.
$2-3,000 for a rebuild once you have finished including all of the tiny bits.
Mine costed $3,000 but after all of the little bits closer to $4,000. (Because I did it myself except for the expensive machining)
I had to have mine done after a head gasket. The things I got done had to be done, and we decided to go "sporty".
Mine has .5mm oversized pistons, compression upped, cam grind, etc. (in my thread I have posted the run down with prices.
Weber 32/36 is a good upgrade.
Ignition gear (plugs, leads)
Electronic dizzy
Running on 98 fuel
A good tune
Easy to pull down and put back together the short motor.
And easy to split the block, but putting the block together is a bit tricky.
Or you have the option of just a new gasket kit (unless you do what I did and find it NEEDS more) and a few mods like the weber and ignition gear.
Cheers Cam

My engine rebuild cost $2200 all up and that was a drop off, pick up when done affair. Didn't do a thing myself. It has new pistons and all new bearings, cam was re ground to clean up the pitting, valve seats re-cut yadda yadda all the usual stuff that goes into a rebuilt engine. No performance upgrades...not that I'll need any
If you're not too excited by the idea of pulling it apart and putting it back yourself (special tools required, know-how and time) find a good place that will do all the work for you.

yeah ive checked out your work on bianca a few times mate, love the work youve done on it but im just after a basic rebuild. i would love to do alot to the engine an make it fast but i dont have enough coin at the moment. is there any difference between the brumby utes and the leone wagons because i can get one for parts and wack different parts on the brumby. does anyone know how to get better suspension because my front end sits lower then the back and i want it to sit flat?
thanks guys
