EA82 whats this? Air injection valve?

I am replacing an EA82 motor in a Kombi, and the new one has what the Gregorys manual indicates as an Air Injection Valve I think.
The old motor did not have this unit. Where should the outlet, (plastic/rubber pipe) go?
Attached pictures show it is next to distributor and the outlet(?) is circled.
A metal pipe leading to the exhaust comes from it too (as arrowed).
Any help or info would be much appreciated.

Air injection valve draws fresh air into the exhaust to help the catalytic converter burn up un-burnt fuel and reduce NOx emissions

In your case, just block off the unused pipe

 only ever seen these things on my 92 EA81 . Maybe replicate your previous pollution gear - likely as Gannon suggests, block the exhaust hole up. I think a spark plug shares same thread? Cheap plug up :)

As you don't have it fitted old the old engine, then you want need it on the new one. Was the old engine inspected by the license dept?
