Stiff clutch in Brumby or MY 4WD?

I fitted a new clutch kit, new bearing carrier to my EA81 Brumby a few years ago and been virtually in storage most of that time until I pull it out a few weeks ago. Man, the pedal is hard as, so stiff compared to my memory of it and my L. Caught up with the clutch supplier who nodded his head after swearing at how stiff it was. Get a new clutch cable and don't be a tight rrrr's , it's the same for the old cables on XE and XF Falcons, new clutch, new cable and you won't have this problem.
Problem was last time I got a cable in an emergency for an MY the cable had to modified to suit - aftermarket supplier

, think it was meant for UGly series

Hey Steptoe, get yourself one of these,

Just clamps onto the cable and you can squirt oil and air thru the cable. Mine has brought many stiff cables to usable order.
Have you tried putting a shifter onto the clutch throw-out arm and manually actuating it, eliminating the cable?

hmmm, nice gadget from good old harbour freight. Have been looking at a spare genuine cable, they have a nylon liner between the inner and outer and I suspect they chew through at the hardest bend of the cable in the Brumby. In fact its ferrule at the pedal end has a crack along it. Given these things can cripple you when they go - might b wise money spent on a newie - genuine so i know it''ll bloody fit !

I drove Ruby Scoo with this issue for a number of years until I decided it was time for a new cable. When I got the old one off the first thing I did was cut it in half - found that the nylon section was worn on a 3 inch length of the cable, hence the difficulty in using the clutch!
It's a dream now

The difference is amazing !
Now I just have to wait for my Popeye syndrome in the left leg to settle! I am smashing the pedal to the floor every time I get in - it is marshmallow soft!
Just would not expect a cable to provide so much resistance right through the pedal travel - to me, it felt like it had to be in the new pressure plate, just left to sit about ??
