EA82T heads maybe wanted in near future...

Post by steptoe » Sun May 21, 2006 11:30 am

if you have EA82T heads for sale can you just send me a hello PM, in preparation for engine pull down very soon. If I find cracked head I am sure to have a panic on, am pretty sure I want to drive EA82T at this stage rather than the big conversion, because then I'm sure I wanna put EA82T heads on normal block for higher compression with lpg conversion in mind and reduced turbo lag.

thanks, Jonno

It's not that uncommon to find cracks between the valves in the EA82T heads. I've heard plenty of stories of people re-using the heads if the cracks don't extend very deep into the head, although from what it sounds like you're planning to do to the motor it might be better to have a good set of heads. Having said that finding un-cracked EA82T heads may not be that easy. Been there done that after I discovered mine were cracked almost right down to the valve guides.

i run cracked heads on my ea82t and life is great....run the cracked heads and everything will return to normal....you will probly do your self an injury trying to find uncracked ones..only to learn they wont change the way it runs..and you probly crack the uncracked ones soon enough anyhow...

I was , still am fearing cracks are the cause of bubbles in coolant, but reading where your cracks have been ( no pun ), it may just be head gasket woes I will have - until I really get this thing cracking !!
