If it still has the code on the side of the bell housing you should be able to find out via that, if not you need to drain the box. then mark one of the teeth on the crown wheel (white out or a paint pen) through the drain hole. then slowly rotate the the front output shaft and count the teeth untill you are back at the mark 37 teeth = 3.7, 39 teeth = 3.9.

Have you got any pictures of the box? as the EA81 Turbo came out with the 4 speed. I think it may be the EA82 Turbo box, as these were 5 speed. Most likely it's a 3.7 but as TOONGA has mentioned, if you can tell us the transmission number on the front bell housing, then we should be able to work it out.

Numbers are the first place I look at but sometimes they don't turn out so good but need to start somewhere.

No worries badga880 but this 930... number is just the batch built number and the pink written one is more than likely a secondhand parts place stock number. The number we need should start with TY7...... and be about 10 digits long.
You can do as prevously mentioned, count the front crown wheel teeth. This can be done really easily.
Is the box in or out of the car? Can you post pictures of it?

No worries. The TY7... numbers would be close to where the starter motor bolts on and down the side a bit but if they eren't there, then the sticker has fallen off. Best way then is to count the crownwheel.
