Oil leak
Oil leak
Hey guys, you must be sick of my stupid questions by now but I have one more. I've got an oil leak in my EA82T that I can't find but it must be leaking on to something hot because when I pull up or stop I can smell burning oil and there's a tiny bit of smoke coming from what looks like the bottom side of the engine. It's not bad, I'm not losing any oil and there us no oil stains where I park it but I hate the smell of burning oil. I was going to put some Nulon stop leak in it when I do an oil change next. Would it be best to mix this with the oil before I put it in? Also thinking of adding some lifter additive. Any ideas. Just to make things clear, I know nothing about these engines but I do have some mechanical knowledge, just a pity it's all on Holden straight 6s or 253/308.

Could be. I gave the engine a clean a few weeks ago in the hope of being able to find where it was leaking. When I cleaned it there was a lot of oily crud on the exhaust. Now I have a sticky lifter, I think, tap tap tap. Coldest morning since I've had the car and I was at work do it wasn't under the carport, when I started it this morning it started ticking/tapping, thought it would go away once the engine warmed up but it's still doing. Not a happy man.

I find the rocker cover gaskets go hard and the gaskets on the bolts of rocker also leak down on to exhaust - more so for the turbos as they have more pipe below to drop oil onto. Burns more on uphill drivs boosting more, more heat to really try burn off excess, more smoke, more smell.
You may wanna look at rockauto.com for a small parcel worth of bits. RCG here about 35 bucks each, there , about $6 each
