Hi, just pulling down the cam cap for my SOHC EJ25. It requires a Torx Plus socket in the size of IP40. I've tried using a busted T45 and a new T40, ruined both. Where am I able to find one of these sockets?

Snap-on have them, but for three times the price they sell them for in the US, $30.11AUD for a single socket??!? (that's not even a socket, its just a "bit")

I bought a set of male and female torx from eBay a couple of months ago, both sets were less than $30 and in oz, pretty sure they were both Kinchrome.

Like the dick I am - these were like the first ones I bought.........Wrong!!!

But they are standard torx, Phiz is after the torx plus bits that have square points, not round points like old torx

Soz, didn't know there was a difference, probably why mine don't seem to fit really well, only wanted one to take the dual passenger seat out of my 07 Transit so I could replace it with a swiveling Forrester seat but they did the job.

They are the six (4 outside the valve cover, 2 inside the valve cover).

I have a T40 Torx socket bit.
Repco part number: CR-V RT22222
It's a hollow head bit though.
I think we bought it for when we were working on a volvo.
Sounds like you need solid head version.

EDIT: also sounds like i should read the thread properly :D

How did you go with this? We have tool shops over called Toolmart, they pretty much have anything you want. Also try Blackwoods

I just came up against this issue myself. The Torx "Plus" seems to have been invented way back in the 90s but just about nobody has bloody heard of it. Everyone knows Torx, but not Torx PLUS.

I'm trying to remove a flywheel off the back of a late model Subaru motor at the moment, and it's got Torx Plus TP50 bolt heads.

I got a 3/4" Torx T50 bit from Repco, and an adaptor to go to 1/2".
My rattle gun wouldn't budge it. Put the breaker bar on, immediately snapped the bit in half.
So I returned that to Repco and got a refund (hah).

Then went to "All Tools", and bought a T50 bit from them which was already 1/2" socket size, and rated for impact.
Soon as I put the breaker bar on that, it just twisted.

Researched a bit more before realizing the Torx "PLUS" distinction. Bloody nobody has heard of them....Repco, Auto Pro, Malz, Coventries to name a few.

But I just found someone today - this guy in Perth - http://www.thetoolchest.com.au/
Knew exactly what is it, and had one in his Truck for me. $15 - 3/4".
I'm sure he'd have the other sizes too and wouldn't mind posting.

I ended up getting one from UK on Ebay. $9aud posted and arrived in 9 days. As much as I try to buy local, you can't go past a third of the price and similar delivery times...
