Removed and cleaned the injectors in my Outback, using my ebay ultrasonic cleaner.
WOW would be an understatement.
The low down torque and response has increased, the fuel economy is back to factory spec.
I drove along a winding mountain road that I travel often, only used 5th, always had to change down before.
Revs slightly higher on cold start and is smoother.
Yep, well worth it.

You can buy an ultrasonic cleaner on ebay for less than the postage cost.
DIY, forever.
Just make sure it has a stainless tank.

I'm guessing you don't drop the whole injector into the water?

Keen to know HOW you immersed them in the sonic cleaner - I've got access to one!

And how long did you leave them in there for?

The following is a suggestion only, if used, is done at your own risk, as it does not comply with manufacturers recommended methods.

Run the fuel tank low, then fill with premium.
Strip the injector to get the "o" rings out.
Water, no.
You should use a special fluid that breaks down the "dirt" on the injectors.
And if, like me, you don't have any, GP thinners does a pretty good job.

Ideally, set the injectors up so the metal body and tip are sitting in the fluid or, at your own risk, just drop them in.
Run them through an Ultrasonic clean cycle (90 sec), mine were spotless on the outside once this was done.
Refill the ultrasonic with clean fluid.
I then set them up to operate with my pulse generator to pulse on and off while being cleaned. You could pulse the injector by hand with a 12v battery (on for very short period only) Ran them through a cycle like this.
Ran the strainers through a 60 sec cycle.
Clean the injector mounts/housing, you should then re-assemble with new "o" rings.

This was done with a Chinese "60w" rated cleaner.

If the injectors are very dirty or worn, this may not work.

Worked for me, no guarantees.

Probably a good thing to do for the IACV as well.
