Subaru Forester air conditioner pulley

My friend has an issue with his air conditioner clutch on his Forester (2nd gen). He said it was making a lot of smoke and smelled bad, so the RAA guy cut off the AC belt.

I suppose it will need a new clutch. Can these be bought separately to the compressor?

Thanks, I will see what Frog says. I don't want to mess around too much because it is not my car, I just want to see if it can be done and for what price so I can tell the guy who owns it.
