Steering racks
other than the hole in the cross memeber what is the difference between the gen 2 legacy item and an L series item. I know that the ends are different and that teh one I have has a yaw sensor on it. eyeballing it they appear to be the same design and lengths , the mounting points are VERY similar.
anyone swapped one into a L series succcessfully? (hoping so as I need the yaw sensor for the ABS/TRC towork properly..)

Yeah, I put an "EJ turbo" power steering rack in the Vortex - same as an L - quite easily. As you have mentioned you need to make the hole bigger for it to fit. I just put the L series tie rod ends from memory. Pretty sure I didn't change the rack ends. The brackets are in a slightly different spot but that didn't create any issues at all.

if thats the case then I'll get the X member modded and bolt this into place. that solves tie rod end issues that I have using the rest of the legacy front end in this car. which bracket moved? the far one or the one where the rack pops through the X member? ( I didnt measure or look when I eyeballed it.)

I'm interested to see how this is done.
My JDM 93 WRX rack doesn't line up in my 88 Tourer at all properly.
The splined shaft is sitting at the wrong angle & also sits too high, meaning the lower of the 2 uni joints on the steering shaft coupler in the engine bay binds up.
