sorry guys - bet you all get sick of this one.... my ea82 mpfi motor rattles bad. its been sitting in the shed for a year but is started regulary. its had a new oil pump fitted by the previous owner (dont know about the lifters).and the heads were done up( got red goo around the sides of them anyway) i did see the reciepts from the previous owner and it had a new pump installed less than a year ago. its only rattling on the drivers side- this makes me think it could be tapppets and not the lifters as i suspect. ive got to give it an oil change which i hope will remedy it.
could someone PLEASE let me know the folling:

GRADE VISCOSITY and BRAND of oil that they have found to help this problem

OIL FILTER TYPE and BRAND, i have been told that some oil filters dont have a valve of some description in them, however i think that that would bleed out after a while.this motor just keeps on tapping!....& does a smaller or larger oil filter make a difference....

can the motor be 'flushed' with diesel/kero or what ever, to 'clean' out the lines? then new filter/oil?

ive read the forums on this subject and the following was noted: 10-30, semi-synthetic shell helix, plus 15w-50, &20w-50 super......any additions? has anyone tried and succeded with these?

THANKS dudes and any info is greatly appreciated.....

anti drain back valve is what you are looking for - but that is only for start up assistance and not have much to do with things once oil pressure is up
