I have got an engine that already had a webber carby on it. When i got the engine the PCV pipes were simply connected to each other (with a garden hose). I decided this wasn't perfect and connect the LHS to the bottom of the airbox and the RHS to the intake manifold. (these sides viewed from the front of the engine although im not sure it matters).
This setup doesnt put any oil in the airbox, but started blowing alot of smoke when 4wding, seems alright on level ground though. If i remove the line going to the intake manifold i get an airbox full of oil (but only ocasional puffs of smoke out exhaust).
firstly is there meant to be that much oil in the crankcase to start with?
and then am i hooking this up wrong, cause my only thoughts from here is to either disconnect it and put up with oily smell or add some kind of restriction or filter in the lines.
Webber Carby PCV Hoses
exactly the same thing has happened to me. i still havnt figured out how to solve it, because it only happens 4wding and seems to start when on an incline or decline. i'll let you know if i work something out.
