How high do these boxes " stall up"?The revs seem to go a bit higher before the thing starts moving to what i'm used to.Also how do you find the shifting in them?

The stall on my TT was only about 1700rpm ish before it wanted to move forward no matter how much brake i used. The change very crisply no spongy gear changing can seem harsh at times.

Brett and I tested his the otherday, seems to be around 2400 to 2700 rpm.

this all depends on what engine you have behind it.

NA engine is going to stall up sooner than a TT or EJ25T in bretts case

what RPM are you stalling to postie??? The more the better for offroading

i'm thinking the tranny fluid might be to low car sitting cold way over the top of the hot full mark.start it up after a bit of rattling from the torque conv it shows nothing on the dipstick.Don't think its stalling could be slipping

part of the reason I asked. if its like any of the chev stuff I'm used to by 2k it should be moving.

Mine will drive off at 1200rpm but if I stall it up I can't hold it at the numbers already mentioned.

those numbers are pretty high for a stock converter brett... but you are making alot of torque down low.

If you were to stick the same box in grants car it would probably only stall up to 2000 or so

1000 and below tc is no good,1800 is normal

The box in my car seems to be doing every thing as it should but it was the biggest mistake I ever made. I don't like it and have wondered how I am going to sell the car. Time for a new one. A manual one.

I agree with that sentiment however wife REFUSES to learn manual so I went auto.

Is it bad for the gear box if its stock and you stall it up?

stall it up for longer than a few seconds and yeah your doing damage

its all about heat - the longer you stall it up for the more heat your generating

4000rpm stall is way too high for a std one, you sure its got enough trans fluid in it?

The auto's take about approx. 5L of auto fluid to be full.......
