Coversion from auto to manual "L" series FWD

Refer my previous thread. Just found out that to convert from auto to manual requires in NSW an engineers report/blue slip , just forked out $500 for one on the engine which came up Ok. I'm not blowing another $500- when the money could be going into to gearbox rectification. was originally going to convert to manual but was told that upgrading the auto box would not require slip what's involved to upgarde , engine is an EA82T. Anybody know someone in Sydney that can do a good job at a reasonable price. I assume things like torque convertor needs to added and pressure adjusted, does this amount to a gearbox rebuild? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
