If I wanted to upgrade my EJ18 to a EJ22 would I be able to use my current 2-plug ECU and loom, or would I need to get a new ecu / loom ?

might be possible if you run the EJ18 manifold / sensors but i would assume the tune would be all wrong.
I havnt been in your car with the 18, but the 22's pull hard in an MY
Do it

Yeah the 18 is all well and good, I like it heaps but really wouldn't mind the extra from a 22.

Not recommended. That goes for 20-22, 22-25 also. Of course the engine will run but the timing maps especially are all wrong.
EJ22 loom and ecu's are cheap and common, do it right and make the most of the engine swap. A complete Ej18 conversion shouldn't be hard to sell either.
