Convert time

Well it would apear the time to do my ej convert has been forced upon me,
i just got off the fone with my mate who has been borrowing it while ive had no licence, just after he droped his gf off and was on his way home it started to make a masive ticking noise, blowing lots of blue smoke and the oil light came on.
I suspect the rings have gone, i was hoping they would last a little longer but oh well good excuse for the convert, no point rebuilding the ea when i have the ej siting there. woot
So ill be taking plenty of pics when doing the convert and keeping everyone updated.
Ill need a L 5 sp d/r adaptor which ill have to get off brett on my way to sydney and find out where my wiring adaptor is and buy the other bits and pices like a surge tank and efi fuel pump.
i remember reading the liberty pump fits in the brumby pump housing with some slight modding, does anyone know if this is correct? Also what are the pros and cons to this if it is correct?
There will be plenty of questions to be asked so please be patient,
Cheers,
Ian

Cool nothing like a dead engine to get a project underway fast!
Sounds like you've got most things sorted already...
The pump, are you referring to the power steering or the air conditioning or something else?
Just another quick question, what do u mean by "wiring adaptor"? Sounds interesting, is this some kind of shortcut for cutting down the EJ wiring loom? Thats the only thing thats above my head for a conversion I think, damn loom wiring!

The pump i was refering to was the fuel pump sorry, also i an not sure how to go about fitting the return line to the tank from the surge tank.
The wiring loom adaptor i was refering to is from SWK, it connects the front ej harness to the rear ea harnes, so that it plugs in just as the ej one would. he sells them for $50 plus postage and handling, pm him for details. it should save about a full day of wiring. woot
Im also going to need a liberty steering extention to replace my brumby one as im going to be using the liberty rack and collum for the power steering

the last brumby i did for my mate was Without a surge tank, we use a vl fuel pump. Return line was simply the biggest metal line i could get off a L series wreak, added a piece of efi fuel line to it and simply when back in with the fuel intake( where you put fuel in at the station) We simply took the tube off welded a small tube and connected the EFI fuel line. Dave did the wiering and the little ute started first go. VL pump is a bit noisy but didn't have any issues for 3 months and it drives everyday at least 3-5hrs per day.
WE are very happy with it:)
P.s Im also interested with that wiring adapter and all the details.

Wow time for an update or what, I forgot all about this thread. To tell you all the truth is there has been very little progress over the last three years

omg has it really been that long? where does the time go.
About 8 months ago I finally moved into a place where I can get some work done on my ute, after living in units, share houses, and no car port houses, and as such a lot has progressed, Today in fact my forester springs turned up so I can finish my 5 stud convert, rear is done, L series control arms are fitted and so are the liberty hubs, later tonight I will be fitting the forester springs to the forester struts and fitting it all up. It is going to be one high brumby, between the forester front end and forester tyres and the 2" lift kit its going to sit high... and I LOVE IT
The EJ22 is sitting in boxes awaiting the block half bolts and head bolts 400 odd bucks worth, so it can be reassembled with EJ25 crank, aftermarket cams(yet to be purchased) a throttle body spacer and Unequal length Headers. The L series/Lib D/R 5sp hybrid is done. Next up is reconditioning the GT lib twin pots I got off Matts brother, need to make 4 new pistons for them, bit cheaper than the 80ish bucks each the brake shop wants for them.
In fact everything seems to be coming along at a steady pace now that I've got a place to work on my ute. I promise, updates will be more frequent from now on lol
