like i said to good to be true well it aint that bad. rego today found out its only a 4 speed such is life i can live with that. got a few vibs i gota get rid of. but i got a tec question . whats a comon fault for 4x4 bind up ive done a few checks cvs seam ok unies are fine tyres are all the same size . it binds up in 5 or so mtrs on dry land quicker if you give it a bit of steering lock.i went up a dirt road and used 4x4 just to see and when i pulled it out i had to force it and it made a fairly loud clunk . i havent done a ratio check but i dont think its that as when its going forward the tyres arnt working against each other from front to rear. another thing are they realy heavy to steer from a standing start till about 15 ks i guese any help would be appreciated .

thanks dibs.

still happy though its a great little ute with plenty of fun left in it

u cannot stop diff wind up..it happens caus when u turn orners the front wheels are going diffrent speeds as rear wheels...just happens...and in 4wd the front and rear are locked thus bind up occurs. nothing can really be done about it

Bind on dry road is normal, don't do it, if it binds on dirt then there is a ratio issue.

Sounds like you don't have power steering, if you do it's not working, if you don't then it's normal.

You can do a L series 5 speed conversion, it gives you another gear halfway between your current 3rd and 4th, 4th is already an overdrive gear.

thanks fellas in a straight line it dont do it so i guese its fine was just curious . as for the steering its not powered mite think about it later as wife wont like it the way it is and whats it worth and whats needed pump rack pullies any more. also lookin at other cheep ways to get more from it . whats a l series 5 speed worth mite be worth lookin at at a later date as i realy would like to do a fair bit of traveling in it . it pulls fine from 30 ks in 3rd . it realy suprised me how well it does go realy nippy round town and out on the highway.im stoked . i actuauly forgot how much it did for my old vdub hehe as i had a baja with this motor in it and it flew . now iv driven it i dont think 14s will harm it so thats onthe agenda when i wear out this set of 13s . this is one horse i will get a lot of fun and enjoyment out of . i hope i can catch up to some of you guys one day. cyas be safe

Got a U-pull it, or something similar? 5sp's are pretty cheap at those wreckers. Although, most 5sp's I've used that have done over 250,000k are pretty chunky and grind a lot.
