A few things I now need to know .

1) Turbo designation and wheel type/trims if possible please .
2) Would anyone have a Ryco part number for the panel air filter element .
3) Are genuine ignition leads available for reasonable money .
4) That plastic air guide inside the top of the airbox - lose it ?
5) Clamp on duct out of turbo loose and very oily . Propably good guess as to
why it runs a bit eratic and gets warmer (coolant) when boosting up long
hills ie Hume Hwy .
6) EFI pump , is it in tank or external on these cars (85 build) .

Cheers Adrian .

1) do you mean what trims/wheels etc went with your particular model of RX turbo?
2) just go into a parts store and tell them what your looking for, or pull it out and take it into them.
3) i wouldn't bother with genuine leads, waste of money.
4) i don't know what it does, but my non turbo EA82 doesn't have it, could be a turbo special part...
5) sounds like a good reason to rebuild. I've just done my Naturally Aspirated EA82 MPFI and couldn't be happier. HUGE improvement over the old thing that blew smoke out of odd places.
6) EFI pump near rear right hand wheel externally mounted, you'll see it.

Cheers

1) ?
2) Never use a Ryco air filter in a Subaru. Use genuine.
3) Moden aftermarket leads are better.
4) Is your airbox modified? ie. "opened up"?
5) You could try making a shim to make the hose a snug fit.
6) enternal.

2) Interesting... what's the reasoning behind this? I'm due to get one of these myself in the next few months.
6) internal - i thought all L's were the same and externally fitted. I've only ever seen externally fitted fuel pumps in all L's be carb, MPFI, or Turbo... or are you pulling my leg - meaning "eternal"?

Sorry brumbyrunner, i don't mean to undermine you but no. 6 just goes against what i know... and sometimes you can be thinking one thing to write and do the opposite (i do it all the time)...

No.4 there's a plastic tube thing that directs air from the centre of the airbox into the airflow metre, i think that's what discopotato03 is talking about.

5)The standard radiators really struggle to keep EA82Ts cool, especially if theyre blocked. definately get it cleaned.
6)as elfreddo said fuel pump is outside of tank, mounted on top of a plate just in front of the tank

enternal...you know...the opposite of internal.
oops. And the x is a good 4 keys away from the n too.

But the Ryco thing was not a typo.
I've had too many engines dusted.
They just don't filter out the dust off road.
Probably fine for road use.

An oily inlet to the turbo is pretty much a normal thing on the EA turbo.
Agree with Brumbyrunner on the filter thing though
