to change the diff ratio in my 92 brumby . can this be done by changing the crown gear /crown gear and pinion both in rear and front diff . mines 3.7/1 when i go to a 5 speed i wish to go to a 3.99 i think it is. without loosing my lsd if i get it.

You'd want to change the ratio of your rear diff to suit your gearbox. Changing the ratio of the gearbox is way harder.

To change the ratio of your rear diff from a 3.7 to a 3.9 you will need to obtain a 3.9 open diff.

Open up your 3.7 LSD diff. Remove the stub axels. Take the centre out and unbolt the ring gear from it.
Open up the 3.9 open diff. Remove the stub axels. Remove the open centre. Unbolt the ring gear off the open centre then bolt it to your LSD centre. Reinstall the stub axels and the centre into the casing and you have a 3.9 LSD.

Thats a very basic rundown off the top of my head. Theres a thread containing more details and even a diagram somewhere, just do a search.

Find a 3.9 5 speed if you can, it's a BIG job to change a front diff ratio.
Rear diff ratio is fairly easily changed to keep your LSD.
