Hey all,
This follows on from the last thread of "Cooked Ruby Scoo's EA82". Now the engine is fully run in, but still waiting on the final oil and filter change for the process.
We drove her back from adelaide on saturday (did a trip to Naracoorte -> Mt Gambier to do uni assignment on limestone groundwater region -> Adelaide to visit rellies), 730 or so k's coming home, on ONE tank of fuel!!! I couldn't believe it. I ran 95 ron premium as usual. Only problem was that she ran hot all the way home, ironically after all the big hills of adelaide. So the radiator will be going in soon for a rodding i think.
One thing that's concerning me is that i have oil drops forming under the point where the little 'O' ring goes in between the head and the block. I've just read the thread about re-tensioning the heads and am wondering if i should look at doing this? I personally don't like leaks and would like this to be a leak free engine for some time. What could i do to fix this problem short of pulling the heads off to check then replace the O rings? I have a few other leaks but i know how to fix them.
Other than that i'm wrapped. The fuel economy was great, the pulling power up a decent incline s**ts all over what i've previously known with the EA82s.
Still very impressed. Now for some new front tyres and my rego to be paid for me and i'd be over the moon (but for now i'll keep dreaming)
Cheers

Hey adrian.
I took my block, pistons and crankshaft into the engine repair joint and told them i was doing a rebuild, they checked clearances, read the specs on these engines from my manual (Haynes, doesn't have the tiny details i'm always after but good for a rebuild). They sourced the bearings, piston heads, rings and did the re-bore. My pistons i think are .5 of a mm oversize.
I also had the heads shaved with another mob in melbourne on Mt Alexander rd, pasco vale. Any engine shop should be of use so long as you get someone who will listen to what you want to do then make some suggestions. I also got a complete gasket kit from the same place.
Hope this is of some value.
Cheers
