Hi guys new to the site as I have just purchased a 1992 GL Subaru Brumby. When i bought it it had a considerable oil leak problem. After degreasing the whole engine bay i narrowed it down to the front engine seal/oil pump area.

I firstly took off the oil pump and replaced the gasket and the small O-ring which didnt seem to help. I then replaced the main engine seal behind the front pully which helped the problem considerably. A few days ago i did the oil pump seal again which leaked strait away. Has anyone had this problem before? Any help would be greatly appreciated as im about to burn the thing.

Cheers Chris

Doin a motor right now for all it's possible leaking seals and gaskets

the parts for the pump need to be genuine as far as i know

S/42420 7000
S/80693 8020
S/80691 4020
S/80694 9030
S/80691 5050

about $20 all up

I use aftermarket front crank seals with no problems

do you have wear or lip cut into the pulley surface to shred your seal ?

then there is the oil pressure switch under $10 that can leak

the sump gasket $17 genuine and aftermarket price

the dizzy also has a $5 o ring to leak

These engines are prone to cracking the oil pump. The crack is sometimes impossible to see. Non genuine pumps are available.

What Steve said and if the engine has done a few Ks it can get a groove worn on the crank from the old hard seal, to remedy this you can either get a sleeve from Subaru or position the new seal in a slightly different spot
