New Carby Problems!

Post by joe_ritson » Mon Jun 11, 2007 10:09 am

Hey guys, I just put a reconditioned carby on an EA81. It's got a few issues. One is that when the engine is running it smells like kerosene, I don't know if this is an actual problem, but just checking anyway. The other big one is that (and this is when the engine IS warmed up and the choke IS off) When I hit 80 in third, the engine loses all power and starts shuddering. It's as if it's flooding itself, but I'm not sure.
Another thing...
When I first had the carby ready to go on, I was fiddling with the accelerator pulley thing, and the second butterfly doesn't seem to open much. It only moves about 15 degrees, compared to the old one's 90 degrees.
Thanks guys!

When it starts shuddering do you have any smoke soming out of the back of the car?

The butterfly wont open much mechanically as its a vacuum secondary
