Trying to get RX Turbo Manual shaft and joints ...

Post by discopotato03 » Mon Jul 02, 2007 5:34 pm

Hi all , my RX has lunched its nearside CV joint and I'm not sure what I'm being offered is the right thing .

Its being supplied complete for ~ $230 and while the inner joint is 25 spline the shaft only has 2 rings and unless I'm blind the CV does not look new .
The hub nut threads look slightly different adjacent the split pin holes as if a nut had picked up and flattened the tips of the threads .

Anyhow my manual shows the two ring shaft as being an "87AC" which equates to 1800 MPFI 2WD in RHD cars . Its supposed to be 257mm (10.12") between the inner boot clamps where the 3 ring shaft or "95AC25" is 242mm (9.53") .

I just want to know where in Sydney do I go to get the right thing for an 8/86RX turbo manual .

Thanks all , cheers A .

Dont know where you go but you are chasing L series EFI manual shafts they are bigger than the carbed ones.

I see what you mean, manual does not show if there is a difference in total lengths of these differing shafts, and aside from the length only the splines are the important thing BYB style anyway I suppose. Doubt aftermarket shafts are gonna have these ID rings.

Most aftermarket shafts these days dont come with the one sided recessed pin hole to know the orientation of the shaft so you have to guess. If you have an RX box in there then you want the larger (more splines) inner.
