Is it possible to get the timing 180 out. Can't find any where that tells you how to do the timing belts if the motors been apart only if you line everything up and do the belts. Can anyone step by step it or tell me how to get started?

not on a motor liek this when u have it apart unless ur not paying attention lol

but yes u need to line evrything up making sure when u turn the cams that they arent going to hit the valves on the pistons or u culd be taking it back apart (shuldnt do to much damage i wuldnt think tho) the cams do turn at half the speed of the crank so if u get the cams lined up and the crank lined up evrythingwill be fine

but wt exactly is the problem to ask about this?

You line the crank pulley up with the mark on the star wheel behind the pulley and the marking on the block then line the cam wheels up roughly where the cutouts are in the cam cover backs. At this stage you should compres and instal the cam tensioner cylinder with the pin out for removeal later then with the belt the correct way around put the dotted line on the crank and the other solid lines on the cam wheels. When the lines are all where they should be then put tesnion on the belt and to the tensioner up. If you are lucky you get it first go and should take only a few minutes

Thanks .So everytime you turn the motor over and the arrow lines up with the mark on the block its right to go,no round twice to get it back firing on number 1?Checking twice Its getting late

yer after its installed and the pin is pulled out of the tensioner u turn it twice on the crankpulley (which will mean the cams come back to the correct marks)
and yes it will be back firing on number 1

EJ22s doesn't really like being advanced timings from what I know but it can be done. Normally its ECM controlled.
