Water pump is leaking, so is the oil pump.
I know it can be done without pulling the motor, but it's an ea81 and it is soo easy to pull it out, and a good opportunity to get the engine bay fully cleaned out and shiny, so I can deal with the bloody cv boot

If its any consolation I heard recently that its very easy to change the oil pump on these, hopefully not too much of a drama for you.

At the same time why not replace the steel welsh plugs in the heads with some brass ones? Check the clutch plate and replace the rear main seal as they always leak the day after the motor has been put back in.

My EJ22 threw the oil pump O ring seal at approx 160K. Rev it to 6KRPM and would spray oil all over the road. Was dripping back alone the exhaust etc, very stinky and looked bad when stopped at the lights w smoke coming out the front of the car. Part costs peanuts but Subaru wanted over $200 to replace it, so did it myself, flushed the radiator etc at the same time, but the other seals were all fine so left them alone. Now at 220K all good, just need new springs and shocks v soon

Hey thanks guys - might not be a bad idea to replace everything that is easy to get to...
I am in half a mind to remove the heads and "de-coke" them. Geez I get some nasty pinging when the secondaries open up... Get some nasty fuel smoke too... Stupid carbies...
