The fuse holder in the engine bay on the drivers side strut tower is the two wires you need to connect.

it doesnt matter, your just making a connection. your using it asa switch not a fuse
10A is recommended in the manual..

Is it benefitial to run this connection on a switch on the dash? Or pointless??

I had my centre lock on the VTD auto hooked up to a switch but i never needed to use it. For the effort however it is always good to have and not need.

i have mine on a switch also, but only because i run mine disconnected (open) on road
as dave said, you wont notice much difference locking it up in the orange beast because it has the proper TT computer which drives it really well
still... for the amount of effort involved you may aswell add a switch. The best part about it is descending steep hills.. it makes the car way more stable

im pretty sure its hooked up to switch in front of the centre console... press the switch the dash light comes on, i'll put the fuse in and see what happens:)
