Subaru Constant AWD Box for L Series

Hi all,

I am currently in the process of assembling a gearbox for my Vortex, and have came up with a way to have a 5 speed single or dual range gearbox, with the viscous centre differential set up out of later model Liberty/Impreza. Would this be something that would be of interest to anyone here?
The changeover cost would be around $1200 - $1500, but this will give you a rebuilt gearbox, using larger gears and synchros, that will bolt straight to any EA81 or EA82 engine. With the added bonus of constant AWD.. Ratios are flexible. I just need to get the prototype finished.

Will send links of these pictures asap.

Any interest, send me an email to [email protected]

Cheers,

Sam.

would you be able to incorporate the L series 1.5:1 low range?

would you be able to build a 4.11:1 gearbox, as a bolt on option for the L series?

Reply to questions.

Sorry, I can't make the centre diff lockable.

I can use 1.5:1 low range reduction gears,

and 4.111:1 final drive front is also possible, you just need a 4.111:1 rear R160 diff.

I can also put a clutch type front LSD in if required, but this would boost the cost..

How is the gearbox holding up ? I am looking at doing the EJ - Brumby conversion in 3 to 6 months and decent low range is looking more and more attractive.
