Hi guys, am having trouble getting started on rebuilding an ea82 as I mentioned the other nite. Seems almost impossible to find an exchange engine supplier like HM Gem used to do. Any ideas? :???:

In the scheem of things there would not be a lot of call for exchange EA82's .

Is yours out or usable ATM ?

I suggest you find a You Pull it wrecker like Pick and Payless in Sydney and pull a few engines down to find a good set of parts like cases/crank/pistons/heads etc . Provided the doner engine/s are reasonable then all you have to spend is the money on consumerables like rings bearings water pump and gaskets/seals + the hone and deck machining .

You could ask around to see if anyone knows a good engine builder in your area , rally people are more likely to know about them than anyone else in my experience .
Re-building any engine properly is not a cheap exercise anymore because of the increase in labour/machining/parts costs compared to 10+ yrs ago .

Cheers A .

Thanx Disco, Yeah I was just trying to speed up things by exchanging, no pain no gain I guess. I have two engines, both going OK cept 4 the usual head gasket scenario. Will keep u posted !!
