I've got my eye on a well priced 91 liberty as a donour for my L series EJ22 conversion, problem is, or maybe not, it's an auto, can somenone confirm the only thing the auto EJ22 would need is a spiggot bush and and everything else, adaptor plate etc will bolt up the same. Also is there any difference in the auto/manual ECU. Cheers

you can convert a ej auto to manual so it shouldn't be a problem in a L conversion.I've seen diagrams were a pin is different auto to manual, someone maybe able to confirm. Also with the auto the starter circuit has a neutral/park switch which will stop the starter and set the ecu for start. This info is wiring relevant ,everything else motorwise is the same.If the price is right i'd say go for it.

If you are only doing an engine swap and keeping your own gearbox, you use the flywheel that matches the gearbox.

Engine itself are same as between automatic and manual.. its just the wiring and ECU that is different.

I kept on eye on the Brisbane Auctions websites for a repairable write-off Liberty. Ended up getting a Gen 1 Liberty sedan for $900 (plus gate charge, and towing costs).

Thanks for that Jack, I didn't really give the auctions much thought,$900's a great deal, I'll keep an eye on them now.
