brumby gear selector shaft oil leak

my brumby has some oil weeping out of the gear selector shaft.

rang a mechanic and said i could be up for a huge job of even having the box needing to be pulled apart just to fit a new seal....

how worried should i be right now?

everything regarding the box still works fine including the 4wd and besides the sloppy gearstick i just dunno if its worth getting fixed just yet.

might sound stupid but ive seen that engine oil stop leak shit before... anything like that for gearbox's for a temp fix?

If its leaking the seal will be beyond a quick fix you can fix it your self but im not sure weather you have to have the extension housing off or not. I will have a look at an old box i have here tomorrow and get back to you.

Check that the box isnt over full. Could be that simple . The box has its own dip stick.

I think it's fairly straight forward, but I haven't done it myself.
There's plenty of Sube gurus on Ausubaru with more of an idea than me.
