5 spd d/r 4wd box wires

Post by choinka » Sun Oct 09, 2005 11:13 pm

Can anyone confirm the wires coming out of above said gearbox. I know the left side (looking down from the top and looking toward the bellhousing) is the reverse switch, but is the one on the back the 4wd switch and the one on the right the low range switch. Both the haynes and gregorys don't mention anything.

cheers,

Richard

The switch's are:
Reverse switch:
closest to the front on the same side as the starter motor.

4WD or Hi Range 4WD switch:
Highest switch on the oposite side as the reverse switch.

Lo Range 4WD switch:
closest switch to the back of the gearbox.

If you've got more than those three I'm not sure on the position of the extra switch's

Thanks for that. I tried working it out with the wiring diagram, but the colours didn't seem to match what I had, so I knew someone on here would know.

Cheers,

Richard

as far as i know there are 3 switches. left hand side upper and lower, and one on the right hand side.

Top one on the left (with a yellow nib in the sensor) is reverse - definately.
Lower left sensor and the right sensor i have no idea, and would be interested to find out if anyone knows.

Just because on my dual range part time 4wd it has a sensor with wiring on the lower left, and my single range centre lockable AWD box has a sensor there too, but with the wires snipped...

And on the right hand side, both gearboxes had a sensor also with wires snipped... My wheel lights never lit up on the dash, only the low range lights came on when the lever tripped the switch next to the lever in the car...

Anyone know anymore about these sensors? It is possible that some jap ones have a neutral sensor aswell, but i have no idea which it would be.

Cheers
-Adam
