MY and NA L Series ign modules same !!

Post by steptoe » Sun Aug 30, 2009 10:28 am

According to ACA parts books the dizzy ignition module in the 6/84 onwards Brumby and the NA L series is the same. One brand part number was TP120 Hitachi part, ACA number ends in 120 also. Gonna compare $100 retail price with genuine, suspecting why my BRumby died and restarted the other day. No spark.

I cant see why not, its just a transistor and a few resistors housed in a little package to amplify the signal from the relunctor to fire the coil.

Mine went a little while back. Not much lead up to it failing; just a couple of loss of power incidents after which it would start again. Then total no spark.
The numbers on mine, E12-61 embossed in the plastic housing and 2Z15 in stenciled white paint.

Gannon, I can see why not - many MY V's L bits are bloody mirror image, in fan switch direction, door key direction, radiator support pins, front hubs :( ,

Maths teach, 1 car + 1 car + 1 ute + 1 ute = sometimes more than one problem. Cheap Grief is the L Turbo with massive problems, Red BRumby is the one to get new ig module, cap, roto,r and coil to be stored onboard and associated tools to swap said coil. Thinking new coil and module and tools to swap to be kept in other ute too! I had first loss of power (spark) episode - enough to get cranky and replace to avoid further scary and inconvenient incident
