I want intermittent wipers

Post by steptoe » Tue Sep 15, 2009 9:56 am

Has any electrical genius any clue on how to add an L series or luxo MY intermittent wiper control into a non luxo Brumby? I have seen some Brumby;s and MY's with intermittent wipers. My BWumby don't and needs. I have two different looking units marked intermittent wiper from either L or MY, one has six wires, another eight.

Hella do a $195 kit the 7010, I am looking more cheap and cheerful than that.I bought one about quarter of a century ago for about $30. It had clear instructions on how to determine what sort of electrical system was in use in your car.

It needed to tap into the earth return wire of the car wiper system, the low speed circuit and had adjustable (dwell) knob that was also its on/off and would only work once wipers were on.

Anyone know how to wire up?

Can you provide some photos of the units that you have? Also, do you have a spare wiper switch? I want intermittent wipers too - and I'd like to incorporate it into the wiper switch itself (replace the present three position switch with a similar-sized four position switch). I'm not after variable dwell - I just want one speed. That circuit is simple to make, and I'll look at it at the end of the month.

I'd have an L series wiper switch somewhere. If it is a Brumby switch you are after I will check another avenue I have to find.

What my mate did was change to the intermittent type switch and apparently there is a gadget that looks like a flasher can you need as well .
Steve reckons the wiring is all there but need the switch and can .

turns out that, this pictured baby is same as an L Series module - maybe I stuffed up. Problem should be solved when I fit my Hella unit

That'll be sweet! I need to nut out the intermittent wipers on Sunnie the Brumby - he's got them wired in by someone like ourselves, but I need to work out what they've done to get them to work again!

Good times, at least it's going to be...

You just want my FL box Gannon - where were you before ??

I thought I could work it out, maybe with a fuse in every patch lead, but have no idea of the circuit of the L grey box makin' things harder or impossible or not safe - gees I had a gutful of that project.

Well yeah the fuse link box is what I'm after, but dont think I wouldnt have replied to this thread if I wasnt in need of one. But I will need somebody to post a diagram or 2, even if its from a Gregories or Haynes manual.
