97 Forester speed sensor
97 Forester speed sensor
My speed sensor on the gearbox has died so i got a another one from the wreckers
Now the problem when i got it home my one is a 2 pin the one from the wreckers is 3 pin:???:
Can i use the 3 pin one on my car but leaving one wire off or is there a trick to it or did i wast my money:(
There were 4 foresters there and all were 3 pin 1999-2001 you wouldn't think they would change something like that
Please help

The sensors are all 2 wire devices, yellow being the signal and white is connected to ground/negative. the 3rd wire you have is a shield and is joined to the white ground wire. You could probably leave is disconnected

Yeah I have the '97 built Foz, has different HT leads plus much else I'm surePoint wrote:there were big changes mid '98 to the Foresters. The engine and electrics all changed, and they went from 4 bolt to 8 bolt bellhousings. Pretty hard to tell from the outside though. I would have thought it would make more sense to change when they did the facelift...
