Subaru Brumby Dash Lights

just a random question, is there anywhere you can get aftermarket dash lights for a subaru brumby.

what, do you need to replace existing dash light bulb that not work or you want to modify for a different,more personalised look ?

The factory orange lights seem quite dim, i would prefer going for something a bit different (blue or something) if possible. If getting new factory bulbs were bright then i would look at it too but i think leds would come up a lot brighter

i have been into a local electronics shop (jaycar) and asked the same question. they can provide new led's which they claim will fit and the appropriate diodes for bugger all cost. i think the led's were under a dollar each for the basic ones.
might be worth checking it out.

LEDs don't throw light in all directions like incandescent bulbs do.

The orange will be the silkscreening of the gauge faces.

Fit new bulbs, clean and retension the bulb sockets.

There's 2 types of LED, one focuses on a point and the others are frosted I think (can't remember what they're called I'm too tired

) but the frosted ones do throw light in all directions.

Will the LEDs dim with the dimmer ? Or will you have a bright light show at night, the darker the outside world - the more internal reflection you get from the inside of your glass and unless you have a safari style flip down windscreen like Daktari or the roo shooters in their 'Cruiser utes ......

Having had a brumby instrument apart completely to install a tacho where the clock lived, I can tell you the orange colour on the speedo dial is generated by an orange piece of plastic, that's shaped like a lightbulb surround.

It sits at the base of the speedo mechanisim and orange light is transfered to the cluster via a simple type of optical plastic. If you can get the same shaped piece of plastic from another subaru cluster of a later design it should fit (they are available in a green blue colour).

Good luck and buy a spare instrument cluster those buggers are fragile
