Sounds to me like it's not getting enough power, I believe most modern head units pull a fair amount of power from both the constant and the accessory lines.
I think I would go with a relay based setup, not something I would recommend doing yourself if you not overly confident with wiring.
Jordan.

Are you running any sub woofers or any amps??
Does definately sound like a power supply problem and it most probbaly is your constant power wire.
Chances are u are running it off the factory power wires from the factory stereo. The problem with this is a lot of old stereos and factory units draw a small current from the constant power wire to keep memory and use the Accessories wire for there main power to run the unit... After market units are opposite however... they draw a lot through the constant and use the Accessories just as a trigger. U may have noticed the stereo wires may have had a thicker constant and thicker Earth wire.
Try this... Connect the Earth wire on the Stereo (Black) to an Earthing bolt... not the old stereos Earth wire... Also connect the Constant Power wire from the deck (Yellow) to a better power source from the back of the fuse pannel or ignition barrel. Make sure u fuse it and try using a 3mm wire.

Take it to a stereo shop and make it there problem... im sure they have another deck of the same brand they can plug straight in to test it. That might end up the cheepest way mate.
If you have done all that correctly and it's still doing it then i can;t see what else could be the problem... Unless something weird is going on with your speakers. Weirder shit has happend. U can try and disscounect one speaker at a time and see what effect that has.

nah its a power problem. if you wanted to go to extremes - fix teh body to battery earth (4 awg strap will do it.) then earth the unit with a bit of 10 awg off the rear of the unit to teh frame of the car. from there run a bit of 10awg with a 15a fuse on one end to the main power of the radio. that will fix it.
nakamichi had a similar problem and thats how I fixed it.

yep both are def wired up correctly.Craigus wrote:You need two power connections - one direct to the battery; one from the switched accessories terminal, and they have to be the correct way around. Do you have both connected?

so what ur saying is that i need another earth from the battery to the body of the car, and then 10 awg wire from the back of the deck to the body of the car with a fuse in it??? ill give it a go but ive tried with another earth from the battery b4 and didnt have any results, but dont know bout with thicker wire from the deck as well
cheers boys:)

I asked this before but i can;t find the answer... Are u running amps and subs or anything off it also??
DEFINATELY try the Battery to Chassy connection... That one connecting can do some weird and wonderful things to your car.

sorry bout not replying 2 that one...thought i rote something down bout it, but obviously not..my bad. no there is no amp in there atm, there was at one stage but i thought that it may have been drawing too much power from everything else which was causing this to happen...think that it also didnt help as the headlights would also flash with the deck when the amp was in. does that change the situation with the earths and gage cable 2 use???SuBaRiNo wrote:I asked this before but i can;t find the answer...
