EA82t - Knock Sensor?

Could those of you that own EA82t’s could you please have a look and let me know if they have the knock sensor wired up? In my experience you will be looking at a white female plug behind the plenum (closer to the fire wall) but will be connecting directly onto engine block itself (is this clear).
I have not, or at least can not remember, seeing 1 being connected on an ea82t engine (and I have been lightly disputing with a mechanic that mine was never hooked up).
Actually I do not even know why these engines would need em?!?!
Who can enlighten me?
Thanks L8a...

They work without them. Old motor had one until the plug broke off. New motor is all connected up.

but what happens when the engine develops a knock and the ECU doesn't know about it so cannot compensate?

On a 4plug ECU it will throw a code at you for not having a knock signal if you disconnect or have a broken wire to the knock sensor on the block,as well it may fatten up the fuel mix as a precaution.
If you have a 3 plug ECU the knock is controlled separate to the ECU by a small box in the PS side or the dash. On earlier 3 plug setups Oz was the only country to have a knock sensor as we had really woeful fuel compared to the rest of the world at that time. Now we have better fuels and most turbo owners run thier cars on Premium it should not pose any real problem with motor death if operating at factory specs.

I think with any standard L turbo setup the need for a knock sensor is pretty much not needed if you are keeping things pretty stock as a precaution run it on PULP and you wont have any issues.
