IACV (Idle Air Control Valve)

Post by mattims » Mon Sep 15, 2008 8:55 pm

Does anyone know how these valves work?

I have a wiring diagram that says the middle pin is power (+12v) and the other two are signal (master and slave).

I assumed it was just two solenoids that needed power on the center and ground on the outside two to make it work, i was wrong. That doesnt seem to effect the idle at all, anyone have any ideas?

Well i have further confused myself now after more testing.
It currently has one wire power and another wire grounded and another left floating (probably went to ecu before i had my motec put in).

What i cant figure out is if it is actually like this one (and my mechanics have permantly grounded one pin to keep it closed)

http://www.motec.com.au/filedownload.ph ... docid=1303

or if is is different again. Either way i would have though if i applied power and ground across the pins i could get it to do something, but i can get no change in idle at all.

I will still try wiring it up to the motec as per the diagram and see if for some reason it really does require a pwm signal.

this may be a stupid thought but if it is wired correctly you cange idle by loosening the two screws and rotating the top part of the iacv?

is this what you are talking about? as in it idles but you would like to change the speed that it idles?

i want to use the valve to control idle, it used to be wired to the ecu and is now not wired to anything, i want to wire it to the motec and make it work.
