horn relay location 1989 Legacy Wagon

Post by matdav » Sat Jul 10, 2010 1:10 pm

Hello -

I was hoping somone could tell me where to find the horn relay on a 1989 Legacy Wagon.

The manual says it's located close to the interior fuse box along with the Ventilation Fan, Front Fog Lamp (not fitted), Fuel Pump, and Ignition Relay.

I've located 3 black relays connected into a connector box above the interior fuse box, and one larger green relay connected on the end of a cable loom. I think the green one must the the Ignition relay.

So I'm wondering if it's one of the black ones?

Can anyone tell me for sure before I put my back out trying to extract it.

As always any advice is much appreciated.

Matt

I finally found it mounted behind the interior fuse box.

To get it out you have to disconnect all the connections to the fuse box, then remove the fuse box by undoing the mounting nuts at top and bottom. It's easier to get to the top nut if you remove the 3 relays at the top of the fuse box.

I will upload a couple of pics on the weekend for reference.
