from memory you need to test the resistance in the thousands not hundreds and there really isn't much difference.
I'm at work but I know there is a thread on the board somewhere about this.

Did you ever download the EA81 service manual?

Thanks heaps Toonga.
No hadnt downloaded that manual. Silly cause I thought "its only a few wires".
Yeh, my coil might be dodgy as might have hooked it up wrong in the first instance. Frog sending another and I'll test it firs then install it correctly.

Another brand new BIC290 coil has similar readings. I now dont think I had a problem with my electrics Toonga. I reckon that kill switch was to answer for everything. Being in a wheelchair I had to reach up on each occasion to press the handlebar mounted starter on the right hand grip. On the right hand sid eof the grip was the kills switch. I think I hit that in eoor on a few occasions. when it was "on" the engine fired.
unless I have a simialr problem I think we can assume it was the issue. Glad I realsied it....we could have been on this for weeks. After all Subaru cars dont have kill switches eh?

Must be fun watching us beat each other up while eating fairybread and helping fellow Suby owners on this wonderful forum!
Cheers Cam
