what is this plug in my 2010 foresters boot?

i came across this plug in the boot of my 2010 forester. what is this plug used for and what could i plug into it? can anyone help?[ATTACH]4055[/ATTACH]

A picture of where exactly in the boot it is would be good.

Then I could compare it with my wifes forester.

depending on the model it could be the rear accessory power socket

There should be another connector plug there as well - i would say it would be for tow bar plug, it has extra wiring/connectors for the plug that you wont need - and i think it has extra wiring for electric brakes but the Forester doesnt have it fitted but there wire is there ready to go.

With that size gauge wire, I'm going with Jules and say it looks like a rear accessory power socket.

I've seen a few Foresters with them in the rear cargo area. I'd grab a test light and check for a fuse in the under bonnet fuse box, also check with a test light for power.

What model forester do you have my wife has the Turbo Diesel 2010 and just above where your plug in the photo sits is the rear accessory power socket.
