it is the same tap as in the brumby, so you might try telling them it is for a 1992 brumby.

Or find a brumby at the wreckers and hope it has a working heater tap.

I will have a look in my parts and see if I have one.

I found over the years they have been harder and harder to find them. They are available from the wagons from 1980 till 1984 and the Brumby from 1982 till 1992, so just ask around at any of the local wreckers. Otherwise, I think this would be a perfect solution...

I know it's not cheap but it works the correct way of bypassing like the original and this one wont corrode away.

The path of the originals is a little tricky to me as it is not just an on off tap, it looks to bypass flow rather than interupt it as a dead end. I think I have seen similar three or is it four outlet heater tap on Commodores about VY VZ are ??? though vac operated will need some trickery.

Try FROG sales and parts

Yes Jonno, it is a bypass system and can't be blocked or you won't have flow in the engine. These electronic ones are much easier to fit than trying to make up a vacuum system.

Yeah if you want an original replacement - check with Frog, otherwise source one from the wreckers ... ;)

I like the idea of converting to electric, but you'll need to swap the dash switch from manual to electric.

This is what I did :

Old one is on the right - it was corroded & not working ... :( ... Add : It's the same Tap !

Add : Taken from here : Bantum's Brumby

Tip - The other thing you should do is free up the cable & dial switch in the dash ...

If you go electric you would have to keep the dial in the dash connected as I'm pretty sure it also operates some of the air flaps when you change it from cold to hot. Neat idea, another one to add to my list for conversions on the wagon

Yeah - You'd have to take another gander at what's behind there, as you might have to fit a relay switch of some sort if you want to convert to electric ...

Sorry I don't have a picture of other ( back ) side ... :(

Taken from here : Bantum's Brumby

P.S. - In the previous photo above - it's the same item, you're just looking at it from different angles ! ...

Ciao, Bantum ...

Interesting unit there Paul! I'd just run the electronic unit's switch separately to the stock one on the dash as the one on the dash does in fact adjust some air ducting flaps in the heater box.

But I wouldn't imagine the VT/VX/VY unit to be too hard to modify to cable operation

Cheers
