Help - with powering a Forester window up/down?

Hey guys, I was wondering if any auto elec/sparkies - or innately cluey blokes - could help me power a window up/down on a door that isn't attached to the car [2003 Forester].
I have a diagram of the loom that plugs into the body, I just need to know where to put the power etc. and what to short if at all?

Image

I tried hooking a car battery + to PIN 1 and the - to PIN 6, toggled the switch, but no action...I'm assuming the other two wires need to be shorted/powered in some particular way [the drivers master switch that disables all windows??], but I didn't want to risk it - as I don't have adequate knowledge of such.

Any help/clues will be very much appreciated. Cheers Dyr

Going from that diagram :
  • pin 1 - power
  • pin 2 - up
  • pin 3 - down
  • pin 6 - earth
To make it work correctly - you would need to plug it into all the relays / switches located on a test subject ... ;)

Hey, thanks for the reply Bantum -- with pin 2 and 3, do I have to add 12v to them to make it operate - as in, [Pin1=12v, Pin2=12v, Pin3=0, Pin6=earth] = UP and [Pin1=12v, Pin2=0, Pin3=12v, Pin6=earth] = Down...sorry for being such a simpleton - cheers

Yeah, it's a bit deceiving that - the sub switch 'earth' only isolates the switch & is not related to the motor, so to make it go up or down - you could connect power to pin 1, and earth both of the other pins 2 & 3, this should make it work when you flip the switch ... :)

Notes : Only do this if separated from the car system, don't leave it powered on for too long or motor will suffer when reaches winder limiter & make sure you have a fuse in there somewhere - just in case ... !
