Which coil for my EA82T

Post by Vortex75 » Sun Mar 23, 2014 8:23 pm

I'm going to purchase a new coil for my EA82T and was wondering what you guys think of the Universal Blaster 2 by MSD FOR $75 or a Crane PS60 performance coil at $100. Any opinions?

I went aftermarket (MEC717 for 85.86 flaper style 3 plug systems )and it lasted 12 months. Replaced with genuine that had to come from Japan in about 10 days, figuring the first one lasted 23 years, was on a good thing.

The one in yours will be same as any mpfi L Series with the transistor switching thing attached to coil bracket. Go after market at your peril !

Something about specification matching.

I prefer the Bosch GT40 coils in the EA engines

Replaced 21 year original with new Bosch unit from Falcon 6cyl :D
Much more compact unit however had to change lead as well as Bosch unit has male terminal on secondary and injector style connector on primary.
