The old brumby's alternator has given up the ghost, my question is what is the part number /model number on the alternator for my model brumby, the alternator I have has the label rubbed off.
Cheers Andy

can't help with a part number but can say all I have been running on mine are L Series alternators for years - simply because they fit right in - the bracket, the plug at the back etc

I can check on the label tomorrow for you, I have a brand new one sitting in a box for a Brumby at my shed.

Been to Repco quoted $302 for a new one but only 50amp rated is this sufficient torun a stock standard system.
Also tried local wreckers quoted $120 for one but no guarantee
There's a 4WD wreckers I haven't tried will try tomorrow
Wreckers aren't open here after 12 on Saturday and closed Sunday (because no-one would want to work on there car on the week-end would they?)

I checked our new one, don't know where it came from though, my cousin (lives in Toowoomba actually) got it for me. It has 2 numbers on it, 8910A and RXA036.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Tom.

think the RX number means a Reco eXchange
$120 for used no warranty !! Hell, Ill sell you one for half that with double the warranty !!
I used to buy used for $50 get a year or so of uncertainty
Also paid a bit more for a reco via a parts store chain and it died within warranty, too stuffed to be busy to claim at the time.
Tried an auto elctrician who can rebuild one ? Usually just as much.... try ebay..... there is also Ashdowns in some places, owned by repcos mother company but can be different pricing.
I used to also pull em apart and just shove another set of brushes in 'em - not Sube variety though.
Put up another post on how to rebrush an alternator, see if you get some help. Or have you a worse diagnosis ?The diode pack is often left in on those recos I reckon- it is another expensive inside item . I have one puts out 17V, another just 12V

Yes, it may have double pulley on it though, got one exactly same about to try in my Brumby oh, has EA82 in it now, forgot, but yeah, referring to my first answer ...EA82, L Series all the same unless it is a Vortex alternator, they don't just fit

Thanks Steptoe the one I have diode pack/regulator is stuffed nothing coming out at all changed brushes 6 months ago and still look good. The one on Fleabay is $75 has 3 months warranty and free postage has single pully and looks the same so will try my luck with that.
Thanks for every ones input
Cheers Andy

Thanks for the info

It was free so I didn't exactly want to delve too far into where it came from or how much or anything haha. Gift horses and all that.
Cheers,
Tom.
