Hitachi voltage regulator replacement

Post by Cliff R » Sun Feb 07, 2016 9:39 am

Anyone know where I can buy (in Australia) a new voltage regulator for a Hitachi alternator off an MY, EA81.
The regulator is a TR1Z-56, wired B-S-L-F-E
The alternator is a Hitachi LR150-151B
I am going to have a crack at replacing the voltage regulator on my original alternator which failed about 15 years ago (yes I kept it) and replace the bearings at the same time.
Bearings shouldn't be an issue but the only regulators I can find on ebay are overseas.
Not sure about the brushes though but I don't know if I can get the whole, regulator/brush assembly.

Anyway of contacting Hitachi or maybe chase up a mob that rebuild alternators as they may have parts or be able to point you in the right direction for them.

Jaycar could be an option too ;)

All the best with it. My last EA alternator died when the bearings let go. That was fun...
