04 OB clock and computer not lighting up

Post by leeton1203 » Wed Dec 28, 2016 7:13 pm

Hi guys

as the title suggests I'm unable to get the clock ant trip computer to light up in my 04 outback, looked at all the related, and then some, fuses and they all seem to be fine. was wondering if there were any other suggestions out there that might be causing it before i go and pull it out.
cheers for your help

Bad earth wire or a loose connection?

I wonder if the wires share a plug under the dash?

Cheers

It is a common fault for this model. The only way to fix it is to take it out and repair it. The repair is simple enough in that you need to solder the dry joints on a small part that has 511 on it.

No easy way to get it out. You basically just grab the around the clock and gently try and pry it out. It is just clipped in place. Once the shroud is out it is a simple matter of just unscrewing the unit to pull it apart. Putting it back together is easier than getting it out.

If it's the same unit perhaps try this thread (from another site):

Oh no my clock doesn't work
