Fuel Guage

I have a bit of a fuel guage issue and just wondering if anyone would know if the problem stems with the gauge in the dash or the sender in the tank or something ? Basically the fuel guage is very eratic. If you fill the car up it may initially show it as empty before slowly bringing it up to full, though shortly after it may go back to showing completely empty again. On a long trip it may go up and down and all over the show at times.

The fuel warning light though seems to work accurately (if that give anyone a clue).

Cheers

Generally a clean of the track on the sender will rectify the problem be aware that on an AWD car there are 2 senders, one in each side of the tank.

Under the cargo area carpet on the bottom edge of the rear seat you will find a panel either side to access the fuel sender units.
