'92 ej22 Alternator

Post by EJ22Ute » Fri Dec 16, 2005 5:47 pm

I have installed a dual battery isolator but main battery is now not being charged.
Instructions mention if the alternator requires external excitation voltage then the battery isolator needs a modification.Apparently internal diodes in the isolator block the external excitation voltage to the alternator.
Does anyone know if the ej22 Hitachi alternator requires this external excitation voltage to operate normally?
