What rules for replacement bars?

Hey guys, I'd like to see how I can replace the front and rear bars on my L-series wagon for something a little stronger. I've got the standard hooped front roo bar but it takes away some approach angle. I also want to make sure I can still tow a trailer and have a decent recovery point on the front. I've seen some great looking bar work on bigger fourbies but what can we do with these old Subies? Pics would be nice of course but also some links to relevant sites.

Hey subalex,

There are many different designs around, unfortunatly I don't have pics. I don't know what the rules are, being in oz i'm sure there are many as always.

The front bar is replaceable with an alloy job, again, many different designs around. This one is probabily easiest to source. The rear bar could be best done with a mate who's good with a welder.

my tips- look for any bumper replacement bullbar for the front- this will probably be the strongest point on the front of the car. the tie down (not)recovery points can snap off, but theres nothing else so...

for the back possibly get a decent tow bar which secures in more than one point- maybe some recovery points on that too.
